4th of July Festivities! Sara Franklin
Posted on Aug 11th, 2018
It was another exciting, fun-filled 4th of July here in Chimney Springs! The day's events began bright and early with the annual Fishing Contest, followed by the pedaling fun of the Bike and Pet parade. The festivities concluded in the Pool under the sun to the tunes played by B Rocking Adams!

It sure was a great day in the neighborhood that would not have been possible without the help of some amazing residents who volunteered their time and efforts. A HUGE thank you to Brooke & Jennifer Roberts and Jim Miller for making the Fishing Contest a success, to Jennifer McLean and Jamie Dupes for pulling parade and popsicle duty, and to Heather Hoeller for coordinating the Pool party and jams!! We are only able to pull these fun events together because neighbors step in to help out!! Thank you all so much!!

Landscape Maintenance

Now that it appears that the summer deluge is subsiding, and we can begin work once again, here are a few reminders for landscape maintenance.

1. Lawn and landscape maintenance should be done in a timely manner. This should include cutting of grass (more frequently during growing season), as well as weeding, seedling removal, and prompt removal of dead landscape material.

2.  Natural areas need to be weeded, must have fallen limbs removed and ground cover maintained.

FROM THE BOARD CHAIR - J.D. Tucker
Posted on Aug 11th, 2018
We are now only a couple of months away from our Annual Meeting. This year’s meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 7:30 pm in the Clubhouse. The Open House will begin at 6:30 pm. This is your opportunity to hear about the year in review, participate in the election of three new Board members, and ask questions of Board members and HOA Officers. I hope you will make an effort to attend and participate in this important process.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, there is an alternate method of registering your vote.  The By-Laws of the HOA state that voting may also be done by proxy. According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a proxy is a document that allows a person to be authorized to act for another.

MAILBOX COMMITTEE UPDATE - Guy Kriske, Chair
Posted on Aug 11th, 2018
The Mailbox Strategy Committee has held two meetings in the past few months. The purpose of the committee is to research options for a consistent appearance in Chimney Springs and determine interest from the community for these options at specific price points.

The Committee has been researching information about the current configuration and possible options. We are gathering complete cost and process information and narrowing down options to a manageable number to present to the neighborhood. We anticipate having sufficient information to present by the end of summer.

The options will include:
  • The current mailbox configuration from the current supplier,
  • An additional wooden configuration,
  • One or more metal options,
  • A composite option.
The Committee will gather community interest for these options through a survey. If there is sufficient interest in options other than our current system, the Committee will hold one or more informational Town Hall meetings to inform and receive input from residents. These meetings would include specifics about each of the mailbox options, total landed costs including purchase, installation, and disposal of current mailboxes, and pathways to funding.

Subsequent to these Town Hall meetings, the Committee would address issues or concerns received during the meetings and communicate final details of options. These details would include all of the information needed to make informed decisions during a vote.

We are committed to facilitating a final outcome that reflects the desires of the community, while adhering to the intent of our Covenants and Design Standards. If you have any questions or comments, please contact me at mailboxes@chimneysprings.org .

WINE TASTING FUN - Heather Hoeller
Posted on Aug 11th, 2018
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the neighborhood wine tasting event that we had back in May. We had a fantastic turnout and it was a great evening to reconnect with neighbors that we hadn't seen since pool season last year. The big winner of the night was Julie Ward with her $8 bottle of Cocobon!

There was much talk amongst the men about doing a beer tasting in the fall, so mark your calendars for Saturday, October 13th!  Look for more information in the September newsletter. Photo Credit: Sharon Lynn Throckmorton.

ACES FROM THE COURTS - Jeff Ballard

Summer ALTA has come to a close and boy what a struggle to get all the matches in with the many pop-up showers we had. Thanks to all the neighbors and friends that allowed teams to make up their matches during the week and for coming out and cheering on our teams. Playoffs start and I know at least one team made the playoffs, so good luck!

Summertime…Where did it Go?

As we move into August, we reflect on the active summertime we have all had. Perhaps, fun family vacations; some much needed downtime; hanging out by the pool; or just enjoying friends and family for a get-together and grilling out. No doubt, it has certainly been a busy summer here in Chimney Springs with all the fun outdoor activities and events. Now that school has started, many of us return to some sense of normalcy.
