August 2017 Article
The Sharks had a great, yet rainy, season finishing with 2 “W’s,” 1 half meet that we had to take as a loss since the weather didn’t permit time to come back and BEAT them, a cancelled meet, that didn’t make it to the required half way point, and a very close loss against Princeton Lakes, at our last home meet. Despite the crazy weather, our Sharks always have fun and are making memories with our families.
We had 110 swimmers, three fun coaches, seven great Rookie League coaches, and 110 x 2 wonderful, supportive parents that all contributed to a fun filled, competitive season! Even some of the parents participated in a parent- coach swim relay during the end of the season party.  IT was quite a racket, and will likely become a new “tradition.”
Also during the end of the season party, the coaches performed their 2nd annual hysterical, synchronized swimming routine, to music. The little rookies also “performed” at our party, by bravely swimming in our “fun meet,” and being cheered on by the all the “Big” Sharks!  Every one of them received a real medal at the end of their race!  The party food was provided by Cappozzi’s, and trophies, along with some funny awards, were presented to our swimmers.   Congratulations to ALL who participated!
Special thanks to our coaches, who made this season not only successful, but fun & memorable:  Eileen Clark, Kaitlyn Comstock, and Kim Seaman!  Rookie Coaches:  Anna Daugherty, Cayce Sherer, Natalyn Smith, Sarah Dominguez, Olivia Bessagato, Ashley Comstock, and Kayleigh Weintraub.  We are very proud to be able to employ our hard working high school students that live right here in our neighborhood.
Also, another big thank you to all of our community sponsors!  We appreciate your contributions and dedication to helping your community in this way!

Spring has arrived and the swim season is right around the corner. We had a very successful registration and many new swimmers have joined the Sharks, along with many familiar faces. If you want to be a part of this year’s Sharks team, contact SL or Chris as soon as possible!
We want to thank all of our sponsors:

Hello Chimney Springs fellow friends and neighbors, and hopefully, potential swim team swimmers!  We are Sharon Lynn Throckmorton (better known as simply SL,) and Chris Linder. A BIG THANK YOU to our newest sponsor, PELT Landscapes. Pelt Landscapes is capable of providing all of your landscape management needs at a reasonable price. Please contact Pete at 404-542-7953 or email for a free quote.  We would appreciate the opportunity to earn your business!!
Thank you all for your continued support of the Swim Team!  We are looking forward to seeing you all again at the Pool, and cheering on our SHARKS this season.  For a bit about SL and Chris, go to our FACEBOOK page…
We have secured our four coaches for this season and their bios are below. We feel very lucky to have all of these coaches return.
John Tomassello
I have been a swimmer for Chimney Springs since I was 5 years old. It has been my honor to be the assistant coach for the past two years. I am a sophomore in college at Mississippi State University, and I will be turning 21 years old in May. I have come to learn a lot about the entire behind the scenes work that goes into each Swim Meet. It's the coolest thing to see both sides of the summer festivities that go on at the neighborhood pool. Whether it is the pump-up songs during the warm-up, or the kids running on the Pool deck to get some sugary candy to fuel them for the next race, it is all good times & summer memories!!  To inspire all you SHARKS, I am offering a turbo challenge: If we win the first Swim Meet I will be posting the picture of myself (age 5) in my Swim Team photo. Also, Coach Steven is featured in this photo. Believe me, you don't want to miss this!!
Kaitlyn Comstock
I am a sophomore at Pope High School and could not be more ecstatic to work as a coach for the 2016 Chimney Springs Swim season!!! My membership on the Sharks Swim Team stretches all the way back to 2005. I consider this an outstanding opportunity as well as privilege to be able to take on the coaching endeavor. I regularly spend summer days down at the Pool, and you may have seen me on the stand last summer as a lifeguard! See you at the Pool!
Eileen Clark
I am currently a sophomore at Pope High School. I have been swimming with the Sharks since I was a young child. It has always been the best part of my summer! Swim Team brings my family together every year. I love coming to swim at the meets and also getting to cheer on my two younger brothers, Michael and Eddie. I have coached Rookie League the past two years, and from the first day, I fell in love with it! Working with kids is something that I really enjoy, and I have formed close relationships with several families through Rookie League. I look forward to working alongside the other Chimney Springs coaches this year to make this the best swimming season yet! We hope to have a fun, exciting, and successful summer!!
AND, Don’t Forget….
Coach Kim Seaman comes from the Stingrays Swimming LAPS Program.  Registration is open now for the April 11 - May 21 LAPS session (See: Kim Seaman will be with us on Friday’s for stroke clinic and helping Coaches John, Eileen, and Kaitlyn with the Monday night meet line-up. Her bio was in last month’s newsletter.
March 2016 Article
Although a bit hard to think of swimming during these chilly, winter days, warmer days and swim races, are right around the corner.  Mark your calendars for Sharks Swim Team Registration on Thursday March 31 from 3:00 – 6:00pm OR Sunday April 10 from 2:00 – 5:00pm at the Tennis Courts. There will be sign ups at Registration for parents to work a half session during our 3 Home meets. Come early to pick the job you like best!  Note that if these dates just don’t work for you, the Chimney Springs website will have registration forms that you may print off and then place in the Swim Coordinators mailboxes at your convenience.
The Chimney Springs Sharks Swim Team is open to children ages 5 (by May 31, 2016) to 18 who are residents of Chimney Springs. Swimmers must be able to jump into the deep end of the pool and “swim” 25 yards unassisted. Please mark your calendar and come to the Pool to register for a fun, memorable, and competitive SHARK season.
We are excited to announce that our awesome coach, John Tommasello, will be back to coach our SHARKS, along with two very reputable and amazing swimmers, Eileen Clark & Kaitlyn Comstock. You may remember these two from previously coaching our ROOKIE LEAGUE!
Coach Aaron Lawson, got married and moved out of the state, but we are very lucky to have Coach John, Coach Eileen & Coach Kaitlyn, who are very qualified, as well as fun, & willing to take on this endeavor.
In addition, we have also been able to secure another very experienced swimmer and coach to help our three coaches, on a weekly basis, to provide a seasonal plan for victory, as well as valuable instruction (stroke clinics) and feedback. Please read her very impressive bio below.  We welcome Kim Seaman with much excitement! She is even a current USA Masters swimmer!
Coach Kim Seaman comes from the Stingrays Swimming LAPS Program.  She has been with the Stingrays for the last 5 years and also serves as the GA Swimming Secretary and an American Swimming Coaches Association Fellow. Coach Kim has a long history with competitive swimming in the Atlanta area including having swum for Emory University's Varsity Swim Team, Marist School, Dynamo Swim Club, and her childhood neighborhood's summer league team, Vermack. She continues to swim today as a USA Masters swimmer, giving her a current, yet rising, total of 27 years of experience as a competitive swimmer herself.
Kim also has years of experience as a Swim Coach for various summer league, school, and USA club teams here in the Atlanta area. She has her Master's Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Coaching and has been using that academic background in combination with her love for the sport and coaching athletes for over 7 years. Being a part of our Chimney Springs team this summer will be a great addition, and she is very excited to meet all of you at the pool soon!
Also, be on the lookout for a Sharks Swim Team Facebook page that will also serve as a place to relay information, and post pictures. This will be up and active by mid-March.
